Promptext offers a variety of ways to receive text messages which we call Response. So that our service is tailored to your needs. We offer:

• Dedicated long code (07...)
• Shared long code
• Dedicated short code
• Shared short code
• Premium rate

Messages are delivered to your promptext account in box and can also be automatically forwarded to an email account of your choice.

Dedicated Long Code

A dedicated long code number (format 07...) is assigned for your exclusive use. Text messages are sent to this number in the usual way from handsets.

Shared Long Code

Sending a message to a shared long code requires the use of a codeword which our system identifies and then forwards the message to the appropriate account. As its name implies several users share the same number. The codeword must be at the beginning of the message followed by a space followed by the message. Should the codeword be omitted or wrong, the message will not be delivered. The codeword is normally the Promptext account user name. Because several users share the same number this solution is less expensive than having a dedicated long code.

Short Codes

A short code is a five digit number that the texter sends to, it is very often set up in conjunction with premium rate services. Short codes may be unique or shared, shared requires the use of a codeword.
